Welcome to Halloween in the states! It is a pretty unique holiday filled with spooky festivities, costumes, candy and more. So how should you prepare for such a day? Here are some tips!


A good costume is key for Halloween. Your costume can be anything, really. It’s a great opportunity to get creative and crazy. Some people go for gore and horror; other people go for cute and sweet. You could dress up as your favorite celebrity or fictional character. Many individuals also make a homemade costume. There are endless possibility.

Trick or treating is a common activity amongst children here. Kids go house to house, dressed in costume, saying “trick or treat!” and collecting candy. They generally collect a large sum of candy far too big to consume at once. But nonetheless, it is a great excitement for kids to show off their costumes and acquire so much candy.

Adults generally enjoy a sweet treat or two on Halloween however don’t usually partake in trick or treating.

Pumpkin Carving

People all across the country transform pumpkins into works of art during Halloween. You can buy your own set of pumpkin carving tools (super cheap at Daiso!), pick up a pumpkin from your local pumpkin patch or Trader Joe’s, and carve out a masterpiece of your own. Roast the pumpkin seeds for a scrumptious snack!

If you feel like having a serious fright, visit a haunted house! During Halloween time, there are various places you can visit for a very scary experience. Here is a site that lists some haunted attractions in the bay area.



Attending IIC’s Halloween Bash

A very important part of celebrating Halloween is attending our Halloween Potluck Party! We will have a pumpkin carving contest, costume contest, delicious food, awesome decor, and fun prizes :)
