Introduction

The Intercultural Institute of California (IIC) seeks a passionate, dynamic and skilled Executive Director (ED) who will proudly lead and support our staff, programs, students, faculty and community.

Who Are We?

IIC is a non-profit language school located in the San Francisco Bay Area and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Korean Center, Inc. (KCI). IIC is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and provides English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to adult students from around the world. We currently have more than 160 students, 18 instructors, and 5 full-time staff. Our programs include General English, Business English, and iBT TOEFL test preparation.

After 25+years in operation and steady growth, IIC has been challenged recently by the COVID pandemic, as have many similar schools. While having successfully pivoted to fully online instruction, we hope to strengthen and develop new offerings that can ensure a more sustainable business model. We are therefore seeking an ED who can not only help IIC remain viable in the near future, but also someone who can help develop a longer-term strategic vision and business plan to lead the organization into the future.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED will have overall strategic, fiscal and administrative responsibility for all IIC programs and operations. S/he will work with a sense of urgency in executing and developing current and prospective revenue opportunities. S/he will assess IIC’s positioning in the market in relation to other institutions with similar offerings and engage prospective strategic partners to effectively execute its missions and expand its programs, outreach and branding.
